GUIDE LINES FOR END USERS

The following charges for the supply of climatological data, reports and publications apply from 1 October, 2018 until further notice. Climate data and products can be obtained by supplying following information on company/organization letter head and by contacting us.

•   Period of data

•   Parameters (meteorological)

•   Place(s) for which data is required

Overall minimum charge of Rs. 2,000 applies to all enquiries. End users requesting data for claim purposes are charged Rs. 20,000 in addition to the actual data cost. Data are supplied with the understanding that it is for a single end user and for the mentioned project/task only. The climate data supplied cannot be passed to a Third Party nor can it be used to generate a Meteorological Value-Added Service. If data requested is used to form a component of a saleable product, or required for onward dissemination, then formal negotiations with PMD are necessary.

All payments must be made in advance & on prescribed filled-in chalan in the State Bank of Pakistan under the head:

 The prescribed partially filled-in chalan either can be downloaded from PMD/CDPC web link http://cdpc.pmd.gov.pk/chalan-form.pdf or obtained from Climate Data Processing Centre (CDPC) office during working hours. Generally data can be obtained within 1-3 working days after receipt of original paid chalan.

SUPPLY OF DATA FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH PURPOSES

In order to promote and encourage researchers, climatological data and/or products supplied to the end-user for non-commercial scientific or educational projects are charged/billed with marginal costs (only 10-50% of original cost). Or the academic researchers, whose supervisor has not secured approval for the significance of their ongoing research work from any funding agency, may receive a LIMITED VOLUME of data free of cost subject to some conditions.

Research is considered non-commercial, if the results are openly available, without any commercial purposes, and the research is subsequently submitted to an open publication. An enquirer wishing to avail of this provision is required to specify in writing that:

Assurances Required:

• A duly-endorsed consent is required, either by the respective chairman/supervisor of the research on original letter head of the institution or by the research supervisor, whether the research work is funded from any (external/internal) source or not, and to mention therein the research level of the researcher's (i.e. Bachelor, Master, M-Phil or PhD), weather parameters, period, stations required for the research. If the research work is not funded, then educate this office how the research will be beneficial for the people of Pakistan.

• Provision of a copy of project / research synopsis.

• Undertaking that a copy of Final Report of project / research on its completion will be provided to this centre and data requested will be used exclusively for the specified research only.

• Undertaking is required by the user, stating that the data will neither be passed on to any other person or organization, nor be used for any commercial purpose.

• Undertaking that data provided by this office, will be permanently deleted from all records either after the completion of research report or after 4-years of issuance of the climate data, whichever is earlier.

• Undertaking that the climate data provided by the PMD-CDPC will be duly acknowledged in the Final Report/Research under the heading "Acknowledgement".
